Baby’s first year

Baby’s first year flies by so quickly. Within 12 months they are walking, talking and becoming their little person. Not only are they growing, but so are you as a parent. Pregnancy, to newborn and then finally 1 year old. This first year is so formative for you all as a family. My biggest regret is not documenting this first year with my children, so I have made it my mission to encourage as many parents as possible to document this beautiful journey you are on together professionally.

I’ve put together a lovely example of a baby’s first year package. It includes a maternity, newborn and 1-year shoot (which can be a cake smash or family shoot depending on what you want)

Maternity – Baby’s first year beginning

This is the first shoot within the ‘Baby’s first year’ package. Your maternity shoot will take place around 28-32 weeks pregnant. This is the perfect time because usually the bump is bumping and you’re not too tired for a photoshoot. We can do an indoor shoot in the studio, which is perfect for the more intimate photos or photographs in your underwear, or we can do an outside photoshoot which is perfect if you happen to be pregnant in spring or summer. Partners and older siblings are always welcome and encouraged to join in the session. I have a full studio wardrobe which is available to use at your maternity shoot as well.

Newborn

This is the second photoshoot within your ‘Baby’s first year’ package. Your newborn shoot will ideally take place when the baby is under two weeks old. However, if your baby is in the hospital or if you have complications, we can be flexible as to when your shoot happens. Newborn photoshoots take place in my studio in Everlsey, Hampshire. When you arrive it will be like a home away from home, with everything you need to be comfortable during your newborn photoshoot. All the images we capture will be relaxed and natural, with my signature fine art style. Parents and siblings are encouraged to join in with the photography session, so we can capture photographs of the whole family together

Cake-smash/first year – Baby’s first year round up

This is your third session within your ‘baby’s first-year’ package. A first-year photoshoot can simply be a photoshoot with all your family, with individual photographs of your baby. If you are opting for a cake smash then the format is a little different. We start with photographs of the family and baby, then we bring out the cake and then we finish with cleaning up in a little roll-top bath. These images are still relaxed and fun and very much fit with my signature fine art style. It’s the perfect way to celebrate your baby’s 1st birthday, it’s a lovely sensory experience and they get to eat cake! Plus, you get to keep the photographs as a lovely keepsake.

Once you have your images from all three sessions, you can choose to display them in any way you like. Some suggestions are maybe an image from each shoot, framed and then put on the wall next to each other. My personal favourite is a beautiful family album, containing all the images from your ‘baby’s first year’ experience. However you choose to display these images, they will be with you for life and are a wonderful way of remembering your baby’s first year.
